Inpatient

Inpatient psychiatric care provides a safe environment, where nursing and other
professional staff are present 24 hours a day. In this setting people will also usually
attend groups and have meals with others. There is a therapeutic benefit from having
this kind of structure and treatment can be initiated and adjusted quickly. Inpatient
hospital stays in the modern era of healthcare are relatively short, and once people are
stabilized, they are often stepped down to a less intensive level of care.
